Putting the “Science” in Unstable Scientific
Masha here! Unstable Scientific is all about collecting resources and saving fellow researchers to build your lab, so you can do experiments that unlock the mysteries of Toromiro Island and absurdium. We’ve got the mechanics for collecting the resources down, and you can even rescue scientists and build up your lab. But how to depict the experiments is still in progress.
Today I finished setting up the basic framework for checking the status of two experiments, one done by Pixel and the other by Chandra. Currently we don’t yet have a system for tracking tasks in the game (it’s coming up!), so I had to improvise a little bit. Even if some of the mechanics aren’t optimal, it’s still good to have the narrative and functional framework set up, so other elements can connect to it once they’re in place.
Anyway, as someone who’s mostly been doing the art and level design for Unstable Scientific, this is the most systems-heavy task I’ve worked on to date and I feel quite accomplished right now!
